- Gua|da|lupe Day «GWAH duh LOOP»,December 12, observed in Mexico as the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, commemorating the day in 1531 when the Virgin Mary is believed to have appeared to a poor Indian on the way to Mexico City. Our Lady of Guadalupe became the patron saint of Mexico.
